Yusmeiro Petit gets win in relief

Yusmeiro Petit picked up the win after pitching 2 2/3 scoreless innings surrendering a hit, a walk and striking out one as the A's beat the Jays 10-5.

Fantasy Impact

The line doesn't tell the entire story as he promptly gave up an RBI single on one pitch to Yangervis Solarte followed by another run on a Kevin Pillar sac fly but both runners were inherited from Santiago Casilla who got saddled with the messy numbers. The reliever was squeaky clean the rest of the way picking up the win in the process. He's been a generally reliable arm for the A's in 2018 working to a 1-0 record with a 3.62 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.

Yusmeiro Petit surrenders two runs on one hit in loss

Yusmeiro Petit gave up a hit, two runs - one of which was earned - in a relief appearance in Oakland's loss to Houston.

Fantasy Impact

Just activated from the bereavement list, Petit entered this one after starter Trevor Cahill had walked Alex Bregman to start the inning. Petit would then get a couple of unlucky breaks as Bregman stole second and advanced to third on Jonathan Lucroy's throwing error followed by Brian McCann reaching on another error by Marcus Semien, scoring Bregman. A double by Jake Marisnick would then plate McCann before Petit would be pulled. He has a 3.07 ERA with a WHIP of 1.02.

Yusmeiro Petit surrenders a hit but no runs in Spring appearance

Yusmeiro Petit pitched a scoreless frame, surrendering a lone hit in Oakland's 8-2 Spring Training loss to the Dodgers.

Fantasy Impact

Petit is slated to start the season as the set up man in Oakland and has pitched very well this Spring, posting a 1.00 ERA across nine innings, striking out 11 and walking none. His lone earned run was a solo shot surrendered in his first action though since then, he has been nearly perfect, giving up only a pair of hits. Petit emerged last season as a reliable set up man posting a 2.76 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP and a 101:18 K/BB ratio, picking up 15 holds in the process for the Angels. The A's may not win a whole lot of games (and thus limit hold opportunities) which will scare off some potential fantasy owners but with a solid closer ahead of him in Blake Treinan, you could do worse than keeping Petit on your radar in leagues where holds are premium.

Yusmeiro Petit strikes out four in two clean innings

RP Yusmeiro Petit threw two hitless innings, striking out four, in the Angels' loss to the Mariners on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

This was the seventh scoreless appearance by Petit and the sixth time he has pitched more than one inning. The veteran has been overlooked when the Angels have needed a closer or a spot starter, so currently, he has little fantasy value. The right-hander is striking out 10.06 SO/9 with an ERA of 2.65. The Angels have hinted that Petit might get a shot at starting if their current options do not pan out.

Yusmeiro Petit strikes out four in relief

RP Yusmeiro Petit tossed two scoreless innings in relief in the 5-1 loss to the Athletics on Thursday. He struck out four.

Fantasy Impact

Petit has quietly had a very effective start to his career with the Angels. He struck out 13 batters over 14 Spring Training innings while allowing just one earned run. In the regular season, he has tossed three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Keep him on your radar if injuries force the Angels to look for a new starter.
