After batting .163/.266/.281 through 40 games, Shaw went on the IL with a hand injury. The Brewers promoted top prospect Keston Hiura, who seemed poised to run away with the starting job at second base. When Shaw returned, however, Milwaukee demoted the raking rookie. He hasn't gone deep since April 23, but this is a slugger who has topped 30 homers in consecutive years. While there's a chance he heats up in the starting role, a prolonged slump would force the Brewers to turn back to Hiura.

Shaw is having a nightmare 2019 season, and with how often he is fanning, it's hard to say he's been unlucky. It's well established that he has 30-HR power, but he won't get anywhere close to that mark if he can't make contact. In fact, he may not be able to maintain regular playing time if he continues to struggle this badly.

Shaw has back to back seasons with 30 homers, and while his batting average may linger in the .240's again, that type of power is difficult to come by after pick 100, especially for someone who qualifies as a second basemen in most leagues.
