Dansby Swanson will enter his age-29 season with a freshly signed 7-year, $177 million with the Chicago Cubs. He played in all 162 games in 2022, swatting 25 HR with 96 RBI, 99 runs, and 18 stolen bases. The park switch to Wrigley Field could add one or two homers, but he may benefit from the new rules regarding swiping bags. Even with the big contract, Swanson has proven that his durability is consistent, and he should bat at the top of the order, both of which make him a valuable fantasy asset.

Dansby Swanson agrees to 7-year, $177 million contract with Cubs
Dansby Swanson and the Cubs are finalizing a 7-year, $177 million contract with a full no-trade clause.
The 28-year-old shortstop had been tied to a number of teams, but he became the focus for the Cubs after Trea Turner, Carlos Correa, and Xander Bogaerts all signed with their respective clubs. Swanson is coming off his best year in the majors, where he hit 25 home runs and stole 18 bases, scoring 99 runs and driving in 96. He has a career slash line of .255/.321/.417. Swanson should bat atop the Chicago lineup, meaning plenty of runs and stolen bases, though the Cubs' lineup is less imposing than Atlanta's by a large amount.
