Medina missed the second half of 2024 and all of 2025 following Tommy John surgery. He made his Cactus League debut on Tuesday against San Diego, allowing one run on two hits and one walk over one inning.

His fastball reached 98.9 mph during the outing. Medina is out of minor-league options and will face workload restrictions in 2026, factors that led to his transition to relief this spring. Oakland is considering him for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen.
