Michael Conforto undergoes shoulder surgery; out until 2023
Michael Conforto underwent shoulder surgery last week, according to Scott Boras. He is expected to make a full recovery and return to play in spring training next year.
Conforto's situation was strange from the start, as he went surprisingly unsigned even after the lockout ended. Conforto's agent, Boras, then told reporters that Conforto had injured his shoulder and was getting fully healthy and would re-engage teams on potential offers. And now, just two weeks later, Conforto is done for the year. The exact nature of Conforto's injury is unclear just yet, but shoulder injuries are notoriously tricky for both hitters and pitchers. He is obviously a drop in redraft formats and should take a significant hit in all keeper and dynasty leagues, but managers should still hold him in those formats.
