Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes indicated last week that River Ryan (elbow) is expected to undergo a "normal" buildup during spring training. By that time, the right-hander will be 18 months removed from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in August 2024.

Despite the encouraging health update, Ryan is expected to begin the 2026 season in the minors following his extended absence. Before the injury in 2024, the 27-year-old posted a 1.33 ERA with an 18:9 K:BB ratio across 20.1 innings over four starts for Los Angeles.
