Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson notched his first spring homer Saturday as part of an 8-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
Torkelson has hit the ball extremely hard this spring but didn't record a home run until Saturday. He leads all major league Tigers in average exit velocity this spring with a mark of 96.4 mph while he ranks seventh in all of spring baseball among players with at least 100 pitches seen in that department. Despite beating the league average in hard-hit rate, average exit velocity, and barrel rate as a rookie in 2022, Torkelson disappointed with eight home runs in 110 games while also being sent to the minors around the All-Star break. He is a solid bounce-back candidate who could exceed the 20-homer plateau in his sophomore season.
