Starlin Castro unlikely to return in 2021
When addressing the media on Tuesday, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said that the team is planning to be without Starlin Castro for the remainder of the season. The 31-year-old infielder was placed on administrative leave last Friday while MLB investigates an alleged domestic violence incident.
MLB placed Castro on administrative leave on July 16th, forcing him to step away from baseball for one week. However, an extended absence agreed upon by MLB and the MLBPA seems quite likely. Rizzo said that the Nationals thought they investigated Castro well given past accusations of sexual assault against him, though clearly that is not the case. He also spoke to players on the big-league roster, telling them that "they have to do better, the world has to do better.”
