Malcolm Thomas soon to decide on treatment for injured knee

by John Aubin | Sat, Nov 8th 11:14am EST

Malcolm Thomas has a tough decision to make. The 76ers reserve power forward has been playing with fluid on his left knee for the last week in a half. He had an MRI on Tuesday. If he decides to have surgery, the 6-foot-9, 225-pounder will be sidelined four weeks. If not, he'll continue to play in pain. "I had it drained last week, Thomas said, "and it swelled back up on me . . .. [The knee] is just filled up. I got cartilage just floating around." s a result, Thomas missed Friday night's game against the Chicago Bulls at the Wells Fargo Center. He wasn't alone. Nerlens Noel (left ankle sprain), Joel Embiid (fractured right foot), Jason Richardson (fractured left foot), Jerami Grant (right ankle sprain) and Michael Carter-Williams (right shoulder surgery) were the other Sixers who missed the game. Thomas, a fourth-year veteran, said the surgery would involve having his knee cleaned out. "I never had one before," Thomas said of surgery. "I have to choose wisely." Thoma (philly.com)
