The Philadelphia 76ers lost in blowout fashion to the Golden State Warriors last night by the score of 126-86. Malcolm Thomas was a bright spot off the bench, scoring a career high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. He also grabbed eight rebounds in nearly 17 minutes of action.
Fantasy Impact
Although his performance was in a blowout game, Thomas could earn more playing time, particularly if Robert Covington or Nerlens Noel struggle. If Thomas can put up the same kind of numbers in meaningful minutes, he could be worth picking up as an extra power forward.
The Philadelphia 76ers signed free agent power forward Malcolm Thomas. He was originally signed by the 76ers on October 27. Thomas played in five games and averaged four points and five rebounds in 14 minutes per game.
Fantasy Impact
Thomas was an All-Star in the D-League last season, but has had little success in the NBA with six teams in parts of four seasons. He's averaged just 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds, in 28 career games. Expect little or no fantasy impact for the foreseeable future.
Malcolm Thomas has a tough decision to make. The 76ers reserve power forward has been playing with fluid on his left knee for the last week in a half. He had an MRI on Tuesday. If he decides to have surgery, the 6-foot-9, 225-pounder will be sidelined four weeks. If not, he'll continue to play in pain. "I had it drained last week, Thomas said, "and it swelled back up on me . . .. [The knee] is just filled up. I got cartilage just floating around." s a result, Thomas missed Friday night's game against the Chicago Bulls at the Wells Fargo Center. He wasn't alone. Nerlens Noel (left ankle sprain), Joel Embiid (fractured right foot), Jason Richardson (fractured left foot), Jerami Grant (right ankle sprain) and Michael Carter-Williams (right shoulder surgery) were the other Sixers who missed the game. Thomas, a fourth-year veteran, said the surgery would involve having his knee cleaned out. "I never had one before," Thomas said of surgery. "I have to choose wisely." Thoma

If you currently own Malcolm Thomas then you are in a very deep league. And you should be able to find someone else to pick up as it looks like he will be out for awhile.
