Bam Adebayo made NBA history on Tuesday night as he scored 83 points (20-43 FG, 7-22 3PT, 36-43 FT) to lead Miami to a 150-129 victory over the Washington Wizards. He added nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Fantasy Impact:
Adebayo surpassed Kobe Bryant's 81 points against Toronto in 2006 for the second-highest scoring effort in a game in NBA history. Only Wilt Chamberlain's iconic 100-point game in 1962 stands ahead of Adebayo's magical night. Adebayo scored a Heat-record 31 points in the first quarter and had a career-high 43 points by halftime - his previous career-high for an entire games was 41 points against the Nets on January 23, 2021. He added 19 points in the third quarter to tie Bryant's record of 62 points through three quarters and then closed out with 21 more points in the fourth. Adebayo also broke the NBA record with 36 free throws made in a single game, breaking the previous record of 28 set by Chamberlain in his 100-point game and equaled by Adrian Dantley in 1984. Adebayo came into the game averaging 18.9 points per contest this season and, while Adebayo can certainly score, this explosion absolutely came out of nowhere.
