According to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, free agent F Alize Johnson has agreed on a one-year, $2 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson, 26, was the No. 50 overall pick out of Missouri State by the Pacers in 2018. Since entering the league, Johnson has bounced around to various different teams with his most recent stops in 2021-22 being in Chicago, Washington, and New Orleans. Now in San Antonio, he will primarily be used as a depth piece with no value in fantasy leagues.
The New Orleans Pelicans are signing Alize Johnson to his second 10-day contract according to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson had been released Friday to make room the 10-day contract signing of Tyrone Wallace. The Pelicans are using a hardship exception on this second deal, as had been expected. The 25-year old forward appeared in three games during his first 10-day contract, scoring 9 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in 25 minutes.
The New Orleans Pelicans are signing forward Alize Johnson to a 10-day contract.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson has bounced around between the Bulls and Wizards this year, and now he's landing a contract with New Orleans. They likely only brought him in as a depth piece, so his presence shouldn't have a big effect on the rest of the lineup.
Alize Johnson scored six points (2-4 FG, 2-2 FT) to go along with 12 rebounds and two assists in the Nets loss Friday against Portland.
Fantasy Impact
After exploding for 20 points and 21 rebounds over 32 minutes of playing time in Thursday's win over Indiana, Johnson saw just 19 minutes of playing time on Friday. The upside of Johnson remains present when given the opportunity, but is tough to trust that he'll see that opportunity on a consistent basis as part of a deep Nets roster.
Alize Johnson scored 20 points (7-12 FG, 0-1 3PT, 6-6 FT) to go along with 21 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the Nets win Thursday over Indiana.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson did this against the same Indiana Pacers franchise that drafted him back in 2018, posting a double-double by halftime. He saw 32 minutes of playing time off the bench with Blake Griffin only seeing 14 minutes of playing time himself. It is trust to tough Johnson long-term on such a deep Nets roster, but the upside is clearly there when he's presented the opportunity.
