Free agent center Gorgui Dieng has returned to the Spurs on a one year deal after a short stint with them in 2020-21. In 44 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, he averaged 3.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game as a role player.
Dieng doesn’t project to be much other than a back up center for the Spurs, likely playing light minutes. He’s off the board for fantasy except for the deepest of leagues.
Gorgui Dieng (personal) will be available for Saturday's game against the Toronto Raptors.
Dieng missed Thursday's game against the Bulls because of this personal reason, which has yet to be specified. Assuming he plays, look for him to remain in his very limited role, buried on the depth chart. He is a fringe streaming option at best.
Gorgui Dieng is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Miami Heat with a non-COVID illness.
Dieng recently entered and cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols in early January, but finds himself battling another illness. This is bad news for Dieng, however, the veteran big man has had a minimal fantasy impact and I don't think it's a situation worth too much monitoring.
Gorgui Dieng entered the league's health and safety protocols on Tuesday.
Dieng is one of the latest Hawks to be placed on the COVID list as they deal with an outbreak. Dieng has not played much of a role this season so his absence likely won't have much fantasy impact.
Gorgui Dieng agreed to a one-year deal worth $4 million with Atlanta.
Dieng simply provides insurance for the Hawks behind Onyeka Okongwu who underwent surgery on his shoulder. He will likely only see legitimate playing time if Okongwu's recovery extends into the upcoming season.
