Willy Hernangomez grabs six rebounds in loss to Nuggets

Willy Hernangomez totaled five points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3PT, 3-6 FT), six rebounds, and one turnover in 11 minutes of play in the Hornets’ 100-86 loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

In January, Hernangomez is getting more opportunity than he has this entire season and is taking advantage of it. Playing in his fifth game with double digit minutes, Hernangomez collected six boards the third highest on the team (tied-Bismack Biyombo). In January, Hernangomez has taken his production to a new level and is realizing season highs in several stat categories (11.3 PTS, 87.5 percent FG%, 50 percent 3PT%, 50 percent FT%, 5.3 REB). The sample size for Hernangomez’s increased production is small and given the inconsistencies of his role on the team we can’t expect that this improved play will continue without a stronger commitment from the coaches to provide him with opportunities to grow into his higher level of play. Hernangomez is best reserved for deep leagues at best until further notice.

Willy Hernangomez scores 14 in narrow loss

Willy Hernangomez managed 14 points (7-8 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and a block over 16 minutes in the Hornets’ 115-112 loss to the Trail Blazers on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

Hernangomez played behind Cody Zeller Monday, replacing Bismack Biyombo as backup center in the narrow loss. In his last outing on Jan. 10, Hernangomez scored a season-high 15 points, though he logged just 11 minutes across 15 contests prior to that performance. He's not a guy to grab off waivers, as his playing time has been quite erratic, with plenty of DNP-CD's thrown in.

Willy Hernangomez grabs seven rebounds in Hornets win

Willy Hernangomez had 10 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes on Thursday against the Timberwolves. He shot 5-of-6 from the field in the 113-106 win.

Fantasy Impact

Hernangomez saw elevated minutes off the bench on Thursday with Cody Zeller still out. His minutes and fantasy production are too limited to roster in any leagues.

Willy Hernangomez scores just two points in start

Willy Hernangomez started for the Hornets on Monday with Cody Zeller out, but only managed to score two points on 1-of-3 shooting. He did grab six rebounds and hand out four assists with a steal and block in 24 minutes of action.

Fantasy Impact

Hernangomez didn't do much with his opportunity on Monday. With the Hornets next game not coming until Friday, they could be more healthy by then which would likely push him back to the bench with no fantasy value.

Willy Hernangomez pulls down five rebounds Thursday

Willy Hernangomez played 10 minutes off the bench on Thursday and put up four points and five rebounds. He missed both of his shots from the field but converted 4-of-6 from the line during the loss to the Magic.

Fantasy Impact

With Cody Zeller back, Hernangomez has fallen out of the Hornets rotation. He didn't play in each of the last four games before getting 10 minutes in the Hornets blowout loss on Thursday.
