G - NYK - G-League
Two-way G Jared Harper has been claimed by the New York Knicks off free agency waivers.
In a subsequent transaction, the team has waived two-way G Kadeem Allen. Harper went undrafted out of Auburn in 2019, but signed on with the Phoenix Suns. He played the 2019-20 season mostly in the G League, but will get an opportunity with the Knicks ahead of the 2020-21 season. Allen on the other hand, has played 29 games sporadically for the Knicks over the past two seasons. He’ll look to catch on with another squad.
Jared Harper has been waived by the Phoenix Suns.
The decision to waive Harper is a bit of a head scratcher considering the rookie point guard averaged 20.8 points, 5.7 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 steal across 30.0 minutes for the Northern Arizona Suns of the G League. The former Auburn product went undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft and was signed to a two-way deal with Phoenix in July, 2019. It appears that Phoenix will let him take his talents elsewhere but given his talent, he'll probably latch on to another team by next season.
Jared Harper went for two points (1-2 FG) over four minutes in the Suns' 119-97 loss to the Nets on Monday.
The rookie from Auburn scored his first NBA points Monday, and he's now appeared in two straight games for Phoenix. He's unlikely to be involved much with the parent club, as he's been cutting his teeth in the G League with the Northern Arizona Suns.
