Luke Kornet will miss the next 6-to-8 weeks due to a foot and ankle injury.
Kornet is towards the back-half of the bench so his absence will not create too much of a boost for his teammates. The biggest beneficiaries would likely be Thaddeous Young - who is currently the starter with Lauri Markkanen still out with a pelvis injury - Daniel Gafford and possibly Cristiano Felicio. Felicio has only appeared in 19 games this season so we will have to see how him and Gafford will rotate. Gafford will likely be favored of the two. If Young is still out on waivers, he may get enough minutes to warrant temporary ownership in season-long leagues.
Luke Kornet punched in eight points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and seven rebounds over 24 minutes in Tuesday's 126-114 loss to the Wizards.
In the wake of injuries to Wendell Carter Jr. and Daniel Gafford the Bulls have been forced to dig deep into the bench and Kornet got his 13th consecutive start. In Tuesday's matchup, the Wizards were crushing the Bulls on the glass so coach Jim Boylen turned to the big-bodied Cristiano Felicio in an attempt to clog up the paint. Over the 13-game opportunity as a starter the Kornet has only hit the 20-point mark once and the 7'2" center failed to record double-digit rebounds in a single contest. Gafford was listed as probably for Tuesday's matchup and although he was unable to suit up, he should be back in the lineup as the team's starter for Thursday's matchup against the Hornets and Kornet's relevance in fantasy will be completely extinguished.
Luke Kornet scored 25 points (10-14 FG, 4-8 3PT, 1-1 FT) with two rebounds and a block across 29 minutes of Sunday’s set back to the Sixers.
Kornet will occasionally surprise with a night like this especially when he gets close to 30 minutes, but with the All-Star break coming up and the Bulls starting to get healthy you can continue to ignore Kornet in fantasy leagues.
Luke Kornet scored 19 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3PT, 3-4 FT) with four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and a block across 28 minutes of Friday’s Bulls’ loss in Brooklyn.
Kornet will come up with a useful game now and then especially when seeing nearly 30 minutes, but has been too inconsistent to trust in standard fantasy leagues, plus Daniel Gafford will be the preferred option at center for the Bulls once he is healthy and ready to contribute. Leave Kornet on the wire.
Luke Kornet scored 12 points (4-10 FG, 2-5 3PT, 2-2 FT) with nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block over 30 minutes of action in Monday’s win over the Spurs.
Kornet got 30 minutes in this one and surprised with a solid stat line, but for the season has been below replacement level with a PER of 11.1 and a TS% of 49.4 percent in 29 games. Kornet is owned in six percent of yahoo leagues, that number should remain in that area.
