G - CLE - OUT
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Cavaliers' PG Ricky Rubio suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
After exiting Tuesday's game with the help of medical staff, Rubio went in for an MRI on Wednesday which later revealed a torn ACL. With Collin Sexton out for the year and Darius Garland out due to health and safety protocols, the Cavaliers look very thin at guard. Look for Dean Wade and Denzel Valentine to see big increases in their minutes.
Ricky Rubio narrowly missed a triple-double in Tuesday’s loss to the Pelicans finishing with 27 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two steals, and two blocks. Unfotunately, Rubio went down with what looked to be a pretty serious knee injury and was unable to return to the game.
Rubio has been a major part of the Cleveland Cavaliers suprising success this season. It would be a major blow to the team if he has suffered a serious knee injury, which unfortunately looked to be a real possibility. Rubio went down in the closing minutes as he appeared to slip with his left knee giving out on a drive to the paint. He was in obvious pain and grabbed at his knee immediately, subsequently not being able to put any weight on it as teammates had to help him to the locker room. Fantasy managers will have to hope his MRI comes back clean, but this one didn’t look good. With Collin Sexton (knee) already out for the season and Darius Garland (COVID-19) currently in the protocols, the Cavs are running thin at backcourt options.
After injuring his knee on Tuesday, Ricky Rubio will head for an MRI to see the extent of the injury according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
In the third quarter, Rubio suffered a knee injury that forced him to leave Tuesday’s game under the help of medical staff. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Rubio is headed for an MRI on Wednesday to find out the severity of the injury. If he misses any time, Lauri Markkanen & Kevin Love are in line for extended minutes.
Ricky Rubio got the start on Wednesday against the Celtics but was ice cold shooting the rock, going 2-of-12 from the field and 1-of-5 from behind the arc leading to just eight points while also turning the ball over four times. Rubio did manage five rebounds, six assists, and three steals, but it wasn't one of the veteran guard's best performances.
Rubio has been an excellent fantasy option, so it's safe for managers to chalk last night's performance up as an off night. However, with so many of his teammates in the protocols, Rubio will get plenty of opportunities to get back to form. The veteran will look to bounce back against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday after Christmas.
Ricky Rubio finished with seven points, four rebounds, two steals, and an impressive 12 assists during 21 minutes of Wednesday's lopsided win over the Houston Rockets.
Rubio has been in a shooting slump as of late, but fantasy managers should hold tight if at all possible. The veteran guard's minutes are secure due to Collin Sextons' season-ending injury, giving him every opportunity to turn things around.
