Big man Willie Cauley-Stein has signed a 10-day contract with the Houston Rockets. He's spent this season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Houston's G League affiliate.
The 6th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Cauley-Stein has been known as a vertical threat during his seven-year career. He'll compete with Frank Kaminsky, Usman Garuba, and Boban Marjanovic for backup big minutes. Cauley-Stein averaged 7.3 points, 6.3 boards, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 blocks for the Vipers this season.

The 7 year vet hadn’t made much of an impact in his short time in Philadelphia, averaging 1 rebound and 3 minutes in 2 games while failing to score. He likely won’t be a very valuable fantasy asset moving forward, but his landing spot could be worth monitoring.

With Andre Drummond being shipped out to the Nets in the recent blockbuster deal, Cauley-Stein will compete for backup center minutes with Paul Millsap and Paul Reed. The 28-year old journeyman averaged 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds with the Mavericks over 9.9 minutes per game. At best, he may be a streaming option if Joel Embiid ever misses a game.
Willie Cauley-Stein (personal reasons) will not be available for Friday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Cauley-Stein played a small role in the Mavericks’ backcourt rotation and does not bring enough value to be considered for fantasy contests.
