F - POR - OUT
Trail Blazers F/C Zach Collins will undergo season-ending ankle surgery.
Tough break for a Trail Blazers squad that is severely undersized against a much bigger Lakers squad. Wenyen Gabriel should continue to start, while Gary Trent Jr. and Hassan Whiteside continue to pick up more minutes off the bench. Jusuf Nurkic will play all the minutes he can handle for the remainder of the series. Collins will now look ahead to the 2020-21 season which is scheduled to start in December.
Trail Blazers F Zach Collins has a “left ankle Malleolar stress reaction” and will be re-evaluated in a week, meaning he’ll miss Games 3 and 4 against the Lakers.
Wenyen Gabriel replaced Collins in the starting lineup in Game 1, but it was Hassan Whiteside who soaked up most of the backup PF/C minutes going up against the big men for the Lakers. Whiteside saw the most minutes (25) he’s seen since play resumed with Jusuf Nurkic taking his spot in the starting lineup.
F Zach Collins (ankle) will not play on Thursday against the Lakers.
Collins missed Game 1 due to inflammation and a stress reaction of his left ankle, and he'll sit out once again. He was scheduled to get an MRI on his ankle on Wednesday but there hasn't been an update on his prognosis yet. Carmelo Anthony and Wenyen Gabriel will continue getting Collins' minutes at PF in what should be another high scoring affair.
Blazers coach Terry Stotts says forward Zach Collins will not play in Tuesday's playoff game against the Lakers due to an ankle injury.
Collins exited Saturday's play-in game against the Grizzlies with inflammation in his left ankle and it appears the injury is serious enough to hold him out of Tuesday's playoff game. Wenyan Gabriel started the second half for Collins on Saturday and should see increased playing time in his absence along with Mario Hezonja.
Trail Blazers F Zach Collins (left ankle inflammation) is questionable to return Saturday vs. the Grizzlies.
Wenyen Gabriel started the second half for the injured Collins. It’ll be more Gabriel and Mario Hezonja in his absence.
