Kirk Cousins, Redskins engaging in 'improved' contract negotiations

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that "there has been an improved, encouraging tone in the contract talks" between the Washington Redskins and quarterback Kirk Cousins recently. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Per Schefter, "one reason for the positive outlook is that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has gotten involved, making it known how much Washington wants to re-sign Cousins." In reality, however, it doesn't seem like the two sides are any closer to putting together a deal by the July 15 deadline. If no deal is agreed upon by that time, Cousins will play the 2017 season under the franchise tender worth roughly $24 million in guaranteed money. He would then reach the open free agent market in the 2018 offseason unless the Redskins tag him for a third time.
