Peyton Barber named RB1 in Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter told the press Peyton Barber is the "starter" over Ronald Jones. "Peyton is our starter," Koetter said Monday via TampaBay.com. "We're definitely going to use Ronald Jones and take advantage of what he's going to do. We do have the two veteran backs behind him. Again, we've got three more preseason games. Let's just let it sort out a little more." (Tampa Bay Times)
Fantasy Impact:
Following an underwhelming debut in the preseason opener, it seems that Jones, a second-round pick, has fallen behind Barber on the Buccaneers RB depth chart. Though it remains early in the preseason, I believe Barber will open regular season play as the RB1. And I'm not surprised, Barber has flashed ahead of Doug Martin in the past and is better than the rookie at pass-pro. Moreover, Koetter even went as far as stating that Barber could be a "three-down player" if they need him to. At his double-digit round ADP, Barber is clearly the greater value over Jones, who is going as many as 4-to-5 rounds earlier in standard scoring formats.
