The Houston Texans could pursue Alex Smith if it becomes clear Deshaun Watson won't be with the team, according to Tom Pelissero. Smith and Texans Head Coach David Culley worked together for four years while both were a part of the Kansas City Chiefs organization. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
Smith was 5-1 as a starter last season. He totaled a 66.7% completion percentage, 1,582 passing yards, a 6:8 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and a 78.5 quarterback rating. The Texans signed Tyrod Taylor earlier this off-season, as well. It's unknown if Smith would start outright or if he'd compete with Taylor.
