Ian Rapoport of NFL Network notes the plan is to sign him to the practice squad and then elevate him to the active roster. Derrick Henry is expected to miss 6-10 weeks after undergoing foot surgery on Tuesday, and the team wasted no time in bringing in a replacement. AP is one of the best running backs of all time and scored seven touchdowns for the Lions in 2020. He's worth adding on the waiver wire until we see how this situation unfolds.
