The Seattle Seahawks have selected CB Devon Witherspoon with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. (Connor Hughes on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Witherspoon was voted the best defensive player in the Big Ten last year and Pete Carroll takes him attempting to create a new Legion of Boom. Witherspoon is a human hit stick and the Seahawks got an excellent physical CB1 with the 5th pick. Seattle took OL Charles Cross in the first round last year and opted to go for the defensive side of the ball this year. Thor Nystrom has Witherspoon as No. 6 overall and CB1 with an NFL player comp of Darius Slay on his Top 500 big board. The Illinois product adds instant credibility to a Seattle defensive unit that has fallen from grace in recent years for fantasy purposes. Witherspoon had three interceptions last season and his 14 passes defended was tied for 8th in the nation.
