Mac Jones the favorite to start as Patriots QB

Mac Jones has been the clear favorite to open the 2023 NFL season as the Patriots starting QB, per report. There is a slim chance Bailey Zappe wins out, but for now it is Mac’s job to lose. (Sports Illustrated )
Fantasy Impact:
This should come as no surprise. The Patriots selected Jones with their first round pick in 2021 to be their next franchise QB after Tom Brady’s departure in 2020. Zappe was electric for short stretches last season while Jones struggled, but Jones has the edge in experience, draft capital, and college pedigree. While it’s unlikely Jones achieves top tier QB status, he is still a valuable asset in 2QB/Superflex leagues.
