The Vikings have informed RB Aaron Jones Sr. that, barring a trade, he will be released at the start of the league year this month. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

The move will save the Vikings $7.75 million against the cap. That would leave Jordan Mason at the top of the depth chart in Minnesota for now, though they'll likely address the position in the NFL Draft.
