Minnesota Vikings

NFC North

J.J. McCarthy will serve as Minnesota's backup quarterback against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. (Source: Minnesota Vikings on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The young quarterback has moved a slot up on the depth chart for Week 2 with Kyler Murray (concussion) being ruled out for Minnesota's matchup against the Bears. He isn't likely to see the field with Carson Wentz set to start, but if anything happens to the veteran, McCarthy will step in and take over for the Vikings, which would be bad news for the fantasy value of Justin Jefferson, Aaron Jones Sr., and their entire offense on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: The Vikings have ruled out Kyler Murray (concussion) ahead of Sunday's game and announced that Wentz would be the starter in his absence. That's good news for the fantasy outlook of Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones Sr. this week, as Minnesota's offense has been able to produce ample fantasy points in the few occasions that Wentz has been at the helm for the team.

Fantasy Impact: The veteran wideout is going to be absent for Sunday's game. He is currently dealing with a personal issue of some kind, though the details of it are unknown at this point. Jordan Addison may see a little bit more work with Jennings out of the lineup.

Brian O'Neill (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. (Source: Minnesota Vikings on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: O'Neill will carry an injury designation heading into the weekend after missing practice earlier in the week due to some kind of a knee issue. If he is ruled out for Sunday's game, Minnesota's offensive line will be weaker than usual in a divisional matchup against the Bears.

Fantasy Impact: Murray was progressing well through the NFL's concussion protocols this week, but he will ultimately have to end up missing a game due to the big hit that he suffered in Week 1. It looks likely that he will be back in time for Week 3, but Carson Wentz is expected to serve as Minnesota's starter in the meantime, which is good news for the fantasy value of Justin Jefferson in a prime matchup against the Bears this week.

Andrew Van Ginkel (chest) was a limited participant at practice again on Thursday. (Source: Minnesota Vikings on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: A chest injury has left the veteran limited at two-straight practices to start the week. It looks more likely than not that he will play in Week 2, which would be great for Minnesota's defense ahead of what projects to be a tough matchup against Chicago's red-hot offense.

Fantasy Impact: Minnesota is giving Dallas a spot on their active roster after placing Jordan Mason (thumb) on injured reserve, which will knock him out for at least four weeks. Dallas isn't expected to play more than a depth role on this offense, however, with Aaron Jones Sr. primed to step up and take on the role as the primary back on this offense for the foreseeable future.

Jordan Mason (thumb) has been placed on injured reserve, knocking him out for at least the next four weeks. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Surprisingly, Mason is being placed on injured reserve due to a thumb injury that he is dealing with. It's not expected to be a long-term issue for him, but he is going to be sidelined for at least the next four weeks while he recovers. Aaron Jones Sr. will serve as the team's clear RB1 in his absence, with Minnesota also signing DeeJay Dallas to their active roster to help with depth.

Jordan Addison did not catch either of his two targets in the Vikings 39-22 win over the Packers.

Fantasy Impact: Justin Jefferson dominated the targets after Carson Wentz took over behind center. Addison will be in the WR3/WR4 mix heading into Week 2 against a vulnerable Bears defense.

Justin Jefferson caught 8-of-9 targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings 39-22 win over the Packers.

Fantasy Impact: Despite Kyler Murray leaving in the first quarter with a concussion, Jefferson was still able to produce in a big way with Carson Wentz. He remains a locked and loaded high-end WR1.

Fantasy Impact: Jones was the 1B in the Vikings backfield behind Jordan Mason to open the season. He'll be a touchdown dependent RB2/flex play most weeks.
