Minnesota Vikings

NFC North

Addressing the media at the NFL Combine, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said "there is no reason to anticipate that Stefon Diggs is not going to be a Minnesota Viking." (Source: Vikings on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This continues to be the party line in Minnesota, and it seems like it's the truth. The Vikings figure to again contend in the NFC, and they have no incentive to trade the dynamic Diggs. While there may continue to be frustrations, both for Diggs and fantasy owners, it doesn't appear that he'll be playing elsewhere in 2020.

Kirk Cousins completed 21 of 29 pass attempts for 172 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Cousins -- along with the rest of the Vikings's offense -- struggled Saturday, as San Francisco's stifling defense was simply overwhelming. Cousins was sacked six times and ended seven drives with three-and-outs, failing to move the ball despite some efficient passing. Cousins had some big games in 2019, but he ultimately finished as fantasy's QB18 and will look to improve his play in 2020.

Dalvin Cook rushed nine times for 18 yards, grabbing six of eight targets for eight yards in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Minnesota was crushed Saturday, and the run game had to be abandoned for the most part. Cook finished with a season-low in total yards, as he scrapped for just 26 while failing to hit the endzone. The Vikings ran into a buzz saw in No. 1 seed San Francisco, and Cook's poor showing was simply the result of negative gamescript. After a breakout 2019 campaign, Cook should be a popular first-round selection across most leagues in 2020 fantasy drafts.

Alexander Mattison rushed once for three yards in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: The run game had nowhere to go Saturday, and Mattison saw just one touch in the blowout loss, with Dalvin Cook not faring much better. The explosive rookie will look to keep positive momentum on his side heading into 2020, though as long as Dalvin Cook is healthy, Mattison is just a high-tier handcuff with little standalone value outside of deep leagues.

Adam Thielen caught five of seven targets for 50 yards in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Thielen finished second only to Stefon Diggs (57) in receiving yards Saturday, while leading the Vikings in targets. It was a let-down effort considering Thielen's big game in the Wild Card win over the Saints, but Minnesota was shut down all afternoon by a stout San Francisco defense. A WR1 in 2018, Thielen will look to put a forgettable, injury-riddled 2019 campaign behind him and bounce back in 2020.

Irv Smith Jr. caught all three of his targets for 39 yards in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Smith Jr. really wasn't involved much in this one, accounting for 21 of is 39 yards on the Vikings' final pass play of the afternoon -- a 4th-and-22 heave that fell a yard shy and confirmed a 49ers victory. The athletic Alabama product will look to build on a respectable rookie campaign when he returns for his second season in 2020.

Kyle Rudolph caught two of three targets for four yards in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: It was a disappointing performance for Rudy, accounting for just four scoreless yards after catching the game-winning touchdown in last week's matchup with New Orleans. Despite an up-and-down season, the nine-year vet provided six touchdowns and TE1 value from Weeks 7-13, showing that he's still got some juice. With rookie Irv Smith Jr. looking to take the next step forward in his second year, Rudolph may see his role reduced in 2020.

Dan Bailey made his only field-goal attempt and his only extra-point attempt in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Bailey ended the 2019 campaign with 22 straight field-goal makes, including the regular season and postseason. He was the fourth-most accurate kicker in the regular season and will look to build on the strong season when he returns to Minnesota in 2020.

Minnesota Vikings D/ST recorded two sacks, one interception and a fumble recovery in the Vikings’ 27-10 loss to the 49ers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: It was a respectable fantasy line, despite the 27 points allowed in Saturday's loss. The Vikings D/ST came away with two turnovers and two sacks -- adding 159 kick-return yards from Ameer Abdullah -- to provide a few fantasy points on the afternoon. Many of the key players on this formidable defensive unit should return next season, making for a strong fantasy pick in 2020 drafts.

Bisi Johnson secured two of three targets for 17 yards in the Vikings’ 26-20 overtime victory over the Saints on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Johnson came away with very little involvement in this one, and the target he didn’t come down with was a drop on third down. Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Dalvin Cook and Kyle Rudolph are clearly ahead of him in the list of Kirk Cousins’ preferred targets. He’s not a fantasy-relevant option.

Tyler Conklin caught his only target for nine yards in the Vikings’ 21-19 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Conklin didn't contribute much Sunday, and he finishes the year with an 8/58/0 receiving line.

Alexander Hollins caught two of three targets ffor 46 yards in the Vikings’ 21-19 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: With Minnesota resting its starters, Hollins received some extended run and led the Vikings in receiving yards Sunday. He notched his only receiving yards of the campaign and will head back to the bench for the Wild Card Round of the playoffs next weekend.

Ameer Abdullah carried six times for 22 yards, adding three receptions for 14 yards in the Vikings’ 21-19 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Abdullah played backup to Mike Boone, finishing with nine total touches in change-of-pace duty. His role will be minimized significantly once Dalvin Cook or Alexander Mattison get back on the field.

Mike Boone carried 17 times for 148 yards and a touchdown, adding two receptions for 12 yards in the Vikings’ 21-19 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Boone ripped Chicago for 160 total yards, delivering a performance fantasy owners had been waiting on since he took over the reins of the backfield. In the regular-season finale, both Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison were rested in anticipation of Wild Card Weekend.

Sean Mannion completed 12 of 21 pass attempts for 126 yards and two interceptions, adding no gain on one carry in the Vikings’ 21-19 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Mannion drew the start Sunday, as Kirk Cousins acted as a backup. The Vikings locked up the No. 6 seed with no room for movement, so playing Cousins made no sense.

Mackensie Alexander finished Monday’s 23-10 loss to the Packers with 11 tackles (nine solo).

Fantasy Impact: Alexander isn’t worth rostering in most leagues as he only has 33 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one interception through Week 16.

Category: Game Recaps

Danielle Hunter ended Sunday’s 39-10 win over the Chargers with five total tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles.

Fantasy Impact: Hunter has 65 total tackles, three forced fumbles, and 13.5 sacks through Week 15. Keep starting Hunter in all leagues and a low-end DE.

Category: Game Recaps

CJ Ham rushed once for five yards, adding three receptions for 13 yards in the Vikings’ 39-10 victory over the Chargers on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Ham unfortunately saw just four touches in Sunday's win. Despite Alexander Mattison (knee) and Dalvin Cook (shoulder) banged up, Ham was a non-factor in the blowout win. Mike Boone has seized control of the backfield, and Ham doesn't warrant fantasy consideration at this time.

Harrison Smith finished Sunday’s 20-7 win over the Detroit Lions with three solo tackles and one interception.

Fantasy Impact: Smith is currently second on the team in total tackles with 74 tackles through Week 14. He is a deeper IDP target only.

Category: Game Recaps

Laquon Treadwell brought in both of his targets for 42 yards in the Vikings’ 20-7 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Treadwell finished second to only Stefon Diggs (92) in receiving yards Sunday, though his two targets weren't encouraging. Treadwell has been a big-play dependent option all year, and he doesn't warrant fantasy consideration outside of very deep leagues.
