Minnesota Vikings

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings D/ST racked up a sack, an INT, and a fumble recovery in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: This wasn't a great game for Minnesota's defense, though there's no surprise here. This unit has plenty of work to do in the offseason to come back more respectably in 2021.

Dan Bailey converted one of two field-goal attempts and four of five extra-point attempts in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Bailey missed two kicks, though fortunately the four points he left on the table didn't impact the win. His 2020 season wasn't one that fantasy managers will likely remember, and Bailey will be tough to trust in 2021.

Ameer Abdullah brought in all three of his targets for seven yards and a TD in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: With Dalvin Cook out, Abdullah saw some work behind Alexander Mattison and caught a short touchdown in the victory. Abdullah isn't worth a look in 2021 fantasy drafts, as he's clearly behind both Cook and Mattison in the backfield rotation.

Irv Smith Jr. caught two of three targets for 30 yards in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Smith Jr.'s performance was a bit disappointing on a night where Kirk Cousins threw for 405 yards. He posted 36/311/2 across 16 games as a rookie and went 30/365/5 across 11 games in his second season. Smith Jr. will look to take the next step forward in his third season in 2021.

Chad Beebe caught two of three targets for 44 yards and a TD in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Beebe's 40-yard score came in the waning seconds of the first half, though he was mostly absent the rest of the game. Beebe finishes his third NFL season with a 20/201/2 line, featuring career highs in all receiving categories.

Adam Thielen brought in four of five targets for 57 yards in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: He ends the season with 25 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns. Thielen will be on the WR2/3 map in 2021, as the emergence of Justin Jefferson has certainly decreased the former's fantasy value.

Justin Jefferson caught nine of 12 targets for 133 yards in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Jefferson's huge day capped off a remarkable rookie year, as he set the rookie receiving record with 1,400 yards in 2020. The mark broke Anquan Boldin's 2003 record of 1,377 yards. Jefferson's monster campaign should make him an early-to-mid-round fantasy selection in 2021 drafts.

Alexander Mattison rushed 21 times for 95 yards and a TD and caught all three of his targets for 50 yards and an additional score in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: With Dalvin Cook out of action, Mattison handled the bulk of MInnesota's backfield work and rumbled for 145 yards and two scores. It was a nice ending to the season for Mattison managers who were burned by him earlier in the year.

Kirk Cousins completed 28 of 40 pass attempts for 405 yards and three TDs and carried five times for one yard and a TD in the Vikings’ 37-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Cousins lit up the Lions for a season-high 405 yards while adding his only rushing score of the season. He finishes the 2020 campaign with career highs in passing touchdowns (35) and total touchdowns (36) and the fifth 4,000-yard season of his career.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook had to return to his hometown Miami, FL to handle a family emergency and won’t play in Week 17. (Source: Courtney Cronin on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Week 17 is a meaningless game for the Vikings, so Cook has been given the okay to be away from the team this week. The 25-year-old finishes the regular season with 1,557 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns in 14 games. It was a heroic performance for fantasy managers who used their first-round pick on him. Cook will once again be a top-five pick in 2021 drafts. Expect Alexander Mattison (concussion) to be given a bigger workload if he can get cleared for Sunday's game against the Lions.

The Vikings placed TE Kyle Rudolph (foot) on IR. (Source: Courtney Cronin on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Rudolph winds up missing the final four games of the season due to this foot injury. Irv Smith Jr. will have one more fantasy relevant week to close out the year.

Mike Boone rushed once for four yards and a TD in the Vikings' 52-33 loss to the Saints on Christmas.

Fantasy Impact: It was an unusual score for the backup RB, who sniped a goal-line touchdown from Dalvin Cook. There's nothing to see here, as Boone is seldom used out of the backfield. He can remain on the waiver wire.

Vikings LB Eric Kendricks (calf) will miss his fourth straight game in Week 16 against the Saints. (Source: Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Kendricks also appears unlikely to play in the regular season finale next weekend. His absence on Christmas Day is a plus for Alvin Kamara.

Tyler Conklin brought in three of four targets for 57 yards and a TD in the Vikings’ 33-27 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: The third-year man secured his first career touchdown and finished behind only Justin Jefferson for team lead in receiving yards. Conklin has shined in his last two games, but he may head back to a bench role if Kyle Rudolph returns in Week 16.

Tajae Sharpe waived by Vikings

Mon, Dec 14th 4:48pm EST
By Brendan Tuma

The Vikings waived WR Tajae Sharpe. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Sharpe signed as a free agent this past offseason. The former fifth-round pick saw three targets but didn't catch a pass this year. He could latch on elsewhere once he clears waivers.

C.J. Ham rushed once for no gain and caught all three of his targets for 22 yards in the Vikings’ 26-14 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: The fullback grabbed a few passes out of the backfield, but he didn’t contribute any meaningful fantasy numbers. There’s no reason for him to be on fantasy rosters.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end D.J. Wonnum returned to practice on Wednesday. (Source: Andrew Krammer on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Wonnum missed Week 13 with the injuries but is on the right track to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Wonnum plays a rotational role for the Vikings and also make an impact on special teams. The rookie is up to three sacks on the season and will be looking to push Jalyn Holmes to be considered for a starting role during the stretch run.

Olabisi Johnson brought in all seven of his targets for 74 yards and converted a two-point conversion in the Vikings’ 28-27 win over the Panthers on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: Johnson drew a start in place of Adam Thielen (reserve/COVID list) and produced easily his best game of the season. Sporting a 6/102 receiving line entering this one, Johnson more than doubled his receptions and nearly matched his yardage output through this performance. If Thielen is ruled out for Week 13 against Jacksonville, Johnson offers some flex appeal in deeper leagues, though Kirk Cousins won't be expected to throw 45 passes like he did in Week 12.

G Ezra Cleveland (ankle) will not play Sunday’s Week 12 contest against the Panthers. (Source: Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Erza was unable to practice this week and will not play in Sunday’s game against the Panthers. He has started the last four contests at RG. The Panthers run defense has been abysmal most of the season, the loss of Cleveland shouldn’t affect star RB Dalvin Cook too much. Look for Brett Jones to start at RG while Cleveland is sidelined.

Former Vikings' OL Pat Elflein has been claimed off waivers by the New York Jets, per Ian Rapoport. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Elflein injured his thumb in Week 1, placing him on Injured Reserve until being activated on November 14th, when Minnesota subsequently released him to waivers. The fourth-year offensive guard will vie for a starting role in a struggling Jets' offense.
