Barring anything unexpected over the next two days of practice, Zappe will get the nod over Mac Jones this Sunday. It will be Zappe's first start of the season and the third of his career. He made two starts (four appearances) as a rookie last season, going 2-0 with a 70.7 percent completion rate, 781 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. While almost nothing in New England inspires optimism at the moment, Zappe has exhibited a lively arm and could benefit from a favorable matchup versus Los Angeles. He ranks as a fringe top-24 fantasy option in Week 13.

It was Zappe and Malik Cunningham seeing all the reps with Mac Jones not seeing any. Zappe took over for Jones in the second half of last Sunday's game against the Giants. It is possible Zappe starts this week against the Chargers.

After taking first-team reps during practice this week, Zappe entered the game to start the second half after the benching of Mac Jones. Neither quarterback looked great in the loss to the Giants, which leaves more questions than answers heading into a Week 13 matchup with the Chargers.
