DE - SEA
Week 7 Outlook
Former Raiders DE Benson Mayowa signs a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, per his agency DEC Management.
Mayowa started his career back in 2013 with Seattle, and will now come full circle as he inks a deal with the Seahawks for the 2020 season. He’s also played for the Raiders, Cowboys, and Cardinals in his seven-year career. Last year in Oakland, Mayowa recorded a career-high seven sacks in 15 games. The rotational edge rusher will look to continue his success as he joins the Seattle Seahawks once again.
Benson Mayowa registered three total tackles, one TFL, 1.5 sacks, one QB hit, and one forced fumble, as the Raiders beat the Chargers, 26-24.
Mayowa has had an under the radar impact for Oakland, notching seven sacks for a team in constant need of a pass-rushing threat. Despite only playing eight games so far, he has already exceeded his career-high in this category. He and the Raiders play next against the winless Bengals.
Arizona Cardinals DE Benson Mayowa recorded six solo tackles, one assisted tackle, and two sacks in their Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
Mayowa may have been the only Cardinals defender who played well besides Patrick Peterson. He got consistent pressure on Los Angeles' QB Jared Goff, and recorded two sacks on the day.
Dallas Cowboys beat writer Rob Phillips is reporting the team has released pass rusher Benson Mayowa.
After two seasons in Dallas, the Cowboys have released Mayowa in a move that will clear $2.75 million of much-needed cap space -- as of today, the Cowboys have less than $15k in cap space. While accumulating a career-high six sacks in 2016, Mayowa regressed mightily, recording one in 2017. Although his regression was likely due to the emergence of Demarcus Lawrence, I still believe his successful 2016 campaign was an anomaly. Still, the veteran pass rusher should be able to land with a new club at some point this offseason. Though he may have to wait until the conclusion of the NFL Draft as he is nothing more than a rotational asset and filler for the back end of a roster.
The Dallas Cowboys have activated DE Benson Mayowa (knee) and DL Maliek Collins (foot) off of the PUP list on Monday.
With all of the uncertainties surrounding the defensive front seven of the Dallas Cowboys due to the individual suspensions handed down to Rolando McClain, Randy Gregory, and Demarcus Lawrence, the club received a boost by activating Mayowa and Collins off of the PUP list. Both players began training camp on the list and will be eased back into football activities. Dallas' D/ST should be avoided and left on the waiver wire to begin the upcoming fantasy football campaign.
