Bilal Powell re-signs with Jets

Free agent RB Bilal Powell will re-sign with the New York Jets.

Fantasy Impact

Powell worked out with the Jets recently, and he obviously impressed. After sustaining a serious neck injury last October, Powell’s career was in jeopardy, but he has been cleared to resume playing football. He joins a crowded backfield of Le’Veon Bell, Elijah McGuire, Trenton Cannon, and Ty Montgomery. His knowledge of the playbook and experience in the league should play well in his favor for securing snaps behind Bell.

Bilal Powell expected to make full recovery

Bilal Powell is expected to make a full recovery and play again, according to the Jets.

Fantasy Impact

This is great news following a report that stated Powell's career was in jeopardy following his neck injury. While it's good to hear he'll be back for 2019, Powell is likely to miss the remainder of the 2018 season due to the injury.

Bilal Powell could be facing career-ending surgery

Jets beat writer Rich Cimini is reporting RB Bilal Powell's (neck) injury could be career-ending.

Fantasy Impact

Jets HC Todd Bowles not only told the press that Powell's surgery will be season-ending, but he also stated that there is a possibility that it could end his career. One thing is almost certain, however. Powell likely has played his final down with the Jets, a team he's spent his entire seven-year career with. A free agent at the end of the season, Powell would more than likely sign elsewhere if he is able to continue playing.

Bilal Powell placed injured reserve with neck injury

The New York Jets have placed running back Bilal Powell on injured reserve due to a neck injury that he suffered in the team's Week 7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Impact

The team announced after the game that Powell's neck injury was considered serious, and now his season is likely over after being placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. Neck injuries are, of course, taken very seriously, and it is now likely that Powell will not return to the Jets at any point this season. With Powell out, fellow running back Isaiah Crowell should see more touches, while Trenton Cannon will likely see an uptick in usage, as well.

Bilal Powell starts well, leaves with injury

Bilal Powell carried five times for 20 yards and caught his only target for 5 yards in the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Vikings. Powell left with a neck injury and did not return.

Fantasy Impact

Powell's status is uncertain at this point, so don't do anything rash, but if he misses time, Isaiah Crowell will be a volume-fueled RB2. Powell should be stashed unless the injury is serious, as he has the ability to deliver boom weeks in the right matchups.
