Cam Inman of The Mercury News' reported that 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk “is expected to be released if not traded by summer’s end.”

The news on Aiyuk as of late has been fairly quiet. It is possible he could be released by next week if he doesn't show up to the 49ers first organized team activities session on May 27th.

Lynch didn't rule out the possibility of Aiyuk being traded during the NFL Draft this week, but he also didn't completely rule it out. The 49ers don't have to be in a rush to make a move as they have until the start of September when they would have to start paying him. This will remain a situation to monitor to see if a deal can get done this week.

Aiyuk ended his 2024 season on the injured reserve after he tore his ACL and MCL in October. He opened 2025 on the Physically Unable to Perform list and never played a snap after reportedly stepping away from the team. In December, he was placed on the reserve/left squad list, ending his year. He does not seem likely to remain with the 49ers in 2026, and his status around the league is up in the air after an unceremonious exit.
