It is worth noting that the 49ers have agreed to contracts for other big stars entering the last year of their deals very late in the past, most recently Nick Bosa in September last season and Deebo Samuel at the end of July in 2022. Aiyuk is 26 years old and entering the final year of his rookie deal, which is the fifth-year option that the team exercised. He has topped 1,000 yards receiving in each of the last two seasons, catching 75 of his 105 targets for 1,342 yards and 7 TD in 2023. If the 49ers do end up moving on from him, it could mean additional opportunities for WRs Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, and rookie Ricky Pearsall and TE George Kittle.
