Derrius Guice 'impressed' Jay Gruden in 2019 debut

NFL.com is reporting Redskins HC Jay Gruden was "impressed" with RB Derrius Guice in his 2019 preseason debut.

Fantasy Impact

Guice opened the game getting six of his 11 carries on the first six plays -- he finished with 11 carries and 44 yards rushing with a touchdown nullified by a penalty. While Guice is expected to enter 2019 behind Adrian Peterson in the pecking order, it shouldn't be long until the second-year back is on top of the Redskins' running back depth chart.

Derrius Guice flashes in preseason debut Thursday

Washington running back Derrius Guice rushed 11 times for 44 yards and caught one pass for four yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Falcons.

Fantasy Impact

Guice impressed in his first game action this preseason, with a long run of 12 yards. He is a popular bounce back candidate for fantasy experts this season after missing all of last season with an ACL injury, but he will still have to find away to get enough touches while sharing a backfield with Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson.

Derrius Guice expected to play Thursday against Falcons

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Redskins RB Derrius Guice (hamstring, knee) is expected to play in Thursday night's preseason tilt against Atlanta.

Fantasy Impact

Preseason Week 3 is dress rehearsal time for NFL teams, which explains why the Redskins want to get Guice some contact-reps leading up to the regular season. While this will likely be his only action of exhibition play, it will be good to see him shake the rust off.

Derrius Guice (hamstring) still not cleared to play

Derrius Guice has not been cleared to play while dealing with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact

Guice tweaked his hammy in practice this offseason and has been practicing with Washington, but he has not been cleared to play yet. The Redskins are likely taking a cautious approach after Guice tore his ACL and missed all of his rookie season last year, but seeing him in preseason action would be a good sign for his fantasy stock.

Derrius Guice good to go for camp

Redskins beat writer John Keim is reporting RB Derrius Guice (knee/ hamstring) is "fully cleared" and "will not be limited" at camp.

Fantasy Impact

Guice's hamstring injury isn't abnormal for a player coming off of a knee injury. The good news is that he shook it early and is good to go for camp. After missing the 2018 campaign in its entirety, Guice needs all the work he can get for what is essentially his rookie year in the NFL. While Guice is the expected RB1, he will likely cede toches to both Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson in 2019.
