Devontae Booker to receive heavy-dose of carries?

Kyle Fredrickson of Denver Post is reporting that Broncos running back Devontae Booker should receive "plenty of carries" with the departure of C.J. Anderson, while the team has yet to decide on the second option.

Fantasy Impact

It almost sounds as if he forgot that the Broncos drafted Oregon's Royce Freeman at the top of the third-round. He did mention him in the following sentences, but this sounds like a case where the Broncos aren't going to simply hand Freeman the starting job to begin camp, which is a process most teams follow. Think about it this way - Booker couldn't pass Anderson on the depth chart and then Anderson was cut from the team. Then they drafted Freeman with high equity at a very replaceable position, and snagged another two running backs later in the draft/undrafted process. If you really believe that Booker is going to start very long for the Broncos, I think you're going to be extremely disappointed.

Devonate Booker quiet in season finale

Devontae Booker recorded just three carries for 21 yards in the Broncos' Week 17 loss to the Chiefs. He caught his only target for 25 yards.

Fantasy Impact

Booker's usage was lower than one might expect if a team is looking for what they have in the future. As with DeAngelo Henderson, it was a surprise to see that neither got more work in a meaningless game. This may not bode well for his 2018 value, but a lot can change in the offseason. If the Broncos enter 2018 with C.J. Anderson as their lead back, Booker will have little value. He will only be in the fantasy conversation as a handcuff unless he looks to be taking the lead role from Anderson.

Devontae Booker rushes eight times for 47 yards in Week 16

Devontae Booker carried the ball eight times for 47 yards in the Broncos' Week 16 loss to the Redskins. He added five receptions for 24 yards.

Fantasy Impact

Booker is clearly behind C.J. Anderson on the Broncos' depth chart. But he had more yards from scrimmage against the Redskins than he had in his previous five games. He's not a relevant fantasy option next weekend against the Chiefs.

Devontae Booker rushes for 39 yards in Week 15

Devontae Booker rushed 11 times for 39 yards in the Broncos' Week 15 win against the Colts. He also caught one ball for 10 yards.

Fantasy Impact

Booker was robbed of a TD reception on a holding call, one in which he hurdled a defender in full stride to score. He took a back seat to C.J. Anderson, who was having a monster game. Booker remains the clear second option in the backfield in Denver and offers no fantasy upside.

Devontae Booker gets nine carries for 22 yards

Devontae Booker had nine carries for 22 yards in the Broncos' Week 14 win against the Jets. He also pitched in two catches for 12 yards.

Fantasy Impact

Booker had little impact in Week 14 as the Denver running game struggled the whole game. Booker has seen a backseat role to teammate C.J. Anderson the past two games. He's not worth a roster spot at this point.
