Devontae Booker sees five touches versus Chicago

Devontae Booker rushed four times for 17 yards and converted his only target for 10 receiving yards in the Broncos' 24-23 preseason loss to the Bears Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact

Booker was solid as he looks to hold off third-round pick Royce Freeman for the starting job in Denver. Look for a timeshare with Freeman emerging with the majority of the work as his superior talent should win out. Booker is better left on the draft board until the later rounds.

Devontae Booker listed as starter on Denver's depth chart

Third-year veteran running back Devontae Booker was listed as Denver's starter when the club released their first official preseason depth chart. Booker has been splitting reps with third-round rookie Royce Freeman but is likely being anointed as the "1A" as a veteran courtesy. The Broncos are firmly expected to roll out a committee using both Booker, Freeman and De'Angelo Henderson.

Fantasy Impact

Booker has been quite underwhelming in two pro seasons, averaging a subpar 3.6 yards-per-carry and fumbling six times. It should only be a matter of time before Freeman takes over the lion's share of touches.

Devontae Booker getting first team reps at camp

Denver7's Troy Renck is reporting that Denver's Devontae Booker is running with the first team at training camp.

Fantasy Impact

Booker will look to hold off third-round pick Royce Freeman for the starting nod in what is likely to be a committee approach to start the year in Denver. Freeman remains the more likely choice to emerge for the Broncos, but the situation is one to monitor as camp continues.

Devontae Booker to receive heavy-dose of carries?

Kyle Fredrickson of Denver Post is reporting that Broncos running back Devontae Booker should receive "plenty of carries" with the departure of C.J. Anderson, while the team has yet to decide on the second option.

Fantasy Impact

It almost sounds as if he forgot that the Broncos drafted Oregon's Royce Freeman at the top of the third-round. He did mention him in the following sentences, but this sounds like a case where the Broncos aren't going to simply hand Freeman the starting job to begin camp, which is a process most teams follow. Think about it this way - Booker couldn't pass Anderson on the depth chart and then Anderson was cut from the team. Then they drafted Freeman with high equity at a very replaceable position, and snagged another two running backs later in the draft/undrafted process. If you really believe that Booker is going to start very long for the Broncos, I think you're going to be extremely disappointed.
