Drake Maye, Patriots agree to terms on rookie contract

Rookie QB Drake Maye has agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract with the New England Patriots, which will include a fifth-year option.

Fantasy Impact

Maye signed a four-year, $36.6 million contract, including a $23.4 million signing bonus. As the No. 3 pick, Maye will have expectations to be the future cornerstone of the Patriots franchise. However, his role should be monitored all offseason with the chance that QB Jacoby Brissett (one year, $8 million) could start for at least the beginning of the season while Maye develops.

Drake Maye works behind Jacoby Brissett, Bailey Zappe Monday

Drake Maye took reps behind Jacoby Brissett and Bailey Zappe at Patriots OTAs on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

It is still very early, but at least worth monitoring for the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft last month. Maye reportedly still looked good with the reps he saw and has plenty of time to work his way up the depth chart for New England.

Drake Maye potential trade up target for Giants

The Giants are rumored to be interested in trading up in the 2024 NFL Draft to acquire Drake Maye. They currently hold the sixth overall pick and are looking to move to the third or fourth pick overall to draft Maye.

Fantasy Impact

Should the Giants acquire Maye, it is possible he could be the Giants' starter going into Week 1. The Giants also have the option to help further develop the soon-to-be rookie from North Carolina and have him sit behind Daniel Jones for one year. Regardless if Maye is the starter in Week 1 for the Giants, he would be a risky fantasy pick in 12-team, 1QB leagues due to the substandard offensive ecosystem surrounding him.

Drake Maye officially declares for NFL Draft

North Carolina QB Drake Maye officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, foregoing his remaining eligibility.

Fantasy Impact

Maye, a redshirt sophomore at UNC, has quickly established himself as a contender to be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The conversations around him and Caleb Williams will continue to develop, but he is a consensus top-two QB early in the draft cycle after throwing for 8,018 yards, 63 touchdowns and just 16 interceptions in Chapel Hill, N.C. while adding 16 rushing scores. He will be considered a top pick in dynasty drafts as well.
