Drew Sample (knee) was walking around at Friday's practice with a leg brace and using a crutch.

Fantasy Impact

After being carted off the field on Thursday with what was feared to be a serious knee injury, this could certainly be viewed as positive development for Sample. The injury is now reportedly expected to keep him out of action a few weeks but not threaten the fourth-year tight end's entire season. Sample is expected to share the position with free-agent acquisition Hayden Hurst this season as the better blocker between the two.

Drew Sample quiet in Super Bowl loss

Bengals TE Drew Sample was very quiet in the Bengals disappointed loss to the Rams in Super Bowl 56. No targets or catches for Sample. According to Nathan Jahnke of PFF, Sample only saw 19 snaps out of a possible 61 plays for Cincinnati.

Fantasy Impact

Sample was outplayed by pending free agent C.J. Uzomah, who saw more snaps and targets. With Uzomah potentially out the door, Sample could be a sleeper pick next season if the Bengals don’t add a tight end.
