Sample has not been very active for the Bengals, catching just two passes this season. TE Hayden Hurst has been the guy for Cincinnati this year and can be seen as a streaming option for fantasy teams every week. He has 11 catches for 77 yards and will likely have touchdown opportunities later this season as the offense continues to ascend after a slow start.

After being carted off the field on Thursday with what was feared to be a serious knee injury, this could certainly be viewed as positive development for Sample. The injury is now reportedly expected to keep him out of action a few weeks but not threaten the fourth-year tight end's entire season. Sample is expected to share the position with free-agent acquisition Hayden Hurst this season as the better blocker between the two.

Bengals TE Drew Sample was very quiet in the Bengals disappointed loss to the Rams in Super Bowl 56. No targets or catches for Sample. According to Nathan Jahnke of PFF, Sample only saw 19 snaps out of a possible 61 plays for Cincinnati.

Sample was outplayed by pending free agent C.J. Uzomah, who saw more snaps and targets. With Uzomah potentially out the door, Sample could be a sleeper pick next season if the Bengals don’t add a tight end.
