DT - CIN
Week 3 Outlook
The Bengals have ruled out Geno Atkins (shoulder) for their Week 2 matchup against the Browns.
It's a boost to Nick Chubb and the Browns' running game. Atkins also missed Week 1 with the same shoulder injury.
Bengals DT Geno Atkins (shoulder) will not play Sunday versus the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Bengals will be without their All-Pro DT, giving a boost to Austin Ekeler's fantasy value this week. News of Atkins' absence also downgrades Cincinnati DST for Week 1.
Geno Atkins finished with four solo tackles, two assisted tackles, two TFLs, two sacks, and two QB hits in a 27-17 loss to the Jaguars.
Atkins played well, but he couldn't single-handedly overcome the shortcomings of his teammates. The Bengals will try again for their first win of the season versus the Rams.
Geno Atkins led the Cincinnati Bengals with two sacks in a 23-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Atkins also pitched in with four tackles in the win. The Bengals sacked Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III three times and limited him to 104 yards passing on the day. However, Griffin did escape for a one-yard score midway through the third quarter.
The 28-year-old defensive tackle has registered 6.5 sacks on the year following Sunday’s effort and is second on the team behind Carlos Dunlap who has seven sacks. Overall, the Cincinnati Bengals have failed to consistently pressure the quarterback this season with only 25 sacks, good for 24th in the NFL. Last season they were 10th best in the NFL with 42 sacks. With an upcoming matchup against a Steelers team that has only allowed 16 sacks this year, the Bengals defense is not a good option in week 15.
Geno Atkins continued to be a menace up the middle for the Bengals' defense. He recorded three tackles, one sack and three additional quarterback hits during Cincinnati's 31-7 win over the St. Louis Rams.
Atkins is a beast and proved it on Sunday against St. Louis. The Bengals will continue to rely upon him to be a plug up the middle for what's turned out to be a pretty formidable defense.
