James Cook
RB - BUF
2022 Outlook
The Bills' newly drafted RB James Cook is set to be the team's number-two option in the running game in 2022, getting the majority of receiving work along with a handful of carries, per camp reports.
Fantasy Impact
Cook was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and has since gotten quite the hype in the fantasy world due to how explosive the Buffalo offense is. Still, it seems that Devin Singletary will keep the starting job to at least start the season and will limit Cook's overall ceiling as an every-down back. Cook should be drafted as an RB4 in redraft leagues with upside to be an every week starter in PPR leagues if he sees enough passing work.
The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that they have agreed to terms on an undisclosed four-year deal with RB James Cook.
Fantasy Impact
If the last name and running style look familiar and you are getting a deja vu feeling, it’s because Dalvin Cook and his younger brother, James, do share some common traits on the gridiron. James, similar to his older brother, has incredibly quick acceleration and cuts on a dime, though the younger Cook does have a much smaller frame at 5’11 and 199 pounds, potentially limiting his ability to be a workhorse at the NFL level. While at Georgia, Cook functioned primarily as a receiving back, never having more than 12 carries in a game. However, Cook was drafted to an ideal situation, where he gets to join the high-powered and pass-heavy Bills' offense. The great landing spot has catapulted Cook into being drafted in the back half of the first round in dynasty rookie drafts.
The Buffalo Bills have selected RB James Cook with the No. 63 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact
Cook, the brother of Dalvin Cook, will join Zack Moss and Devin Singletary in the Bills backfield. Moss was seemingly slowly fazed out of the offense last season with Singletary commanding the lead role to end the year. This will be a backfield to monitor in training camp to see who is receiving what reps as the lead back.
According to Aaron Wilson of PFN365, James Cook is visiting with the Giants on Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
The Giants are hosting James Cook, RB, and brother of NFL star Dalvin Cook. The Georgia product is projected to be a day-three pick and with Saquon Barkley often broken down and the team letting go of Devontae Booker this offseason, the team is clearly looking to add talent at the position. During Cook's season at Georgia in 2021, he was a productive backup rushing 113 times for 728 yards and seven touchdowns.
According to the Official NFL Website, James Cook runs a 4.42 40-yard dash at the combine faster than his brother Dalvin Cook.
Fantasy Impact
Cook, brother of Vikings starting RB Dalvin Cook broke his brothers 40-yard dash time on Friday running a 4.42. The Georgia product saw his most productive season in 2021 as he rushed for 728 yards and seven touchdowns on 113 carries while also contributing as a receiver with 284 yards and four touchdowns on 27 receptions.
