Javonte Williams remains as Dallas’ lead back by a comfortable margin headed into 2026 following a breakout campaign that ended with him signing a three year extension with the team.
Fantasy Impact
Williams has the bell-cow, or at least the lead role, on lockdown. However, what’s primarily in question is who will be backing him up, as Jaydon Blue, Malik Davis, and Phil Mafah are all vying for the role. It appears Dallas, while comfortable with Williams, doesn’t want to put the same sort of workload on him again this season as he had in 2025. That could hurt his upside unless he becomes more proficient in the passing game, but on volume alone he should maintain RB2 status.
Javonte Williams has landed a three year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, with $16 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Impact
The former Bronco cashes in after a big season in Dallas. Expectations were fairly low for the veteran back, who was coming off of multiple injuries and disappointing seasons, but he crushed expectations to the tune of 1,200 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He is a strong RB2 heading into 2026 with RB1 upside.
Javonte Williams (shoulder/neck) has been placed on Injured Reserve with shoulder and neck injuries.
Fantasy Impact
Williams was ruled out for Week 18, with Jaydon Blue expected to take on the workload in his absence. It’s a sad end to an otherwise great season for Williams, who will likely see a lot of interest from teams in free agency, but don’t be surprised if he comes back to Dallas.
Javonte Williams has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Fantasy Impact
The season is officially over for Williams. He had a breakout year, rushing for ,201 yards and 11 touchdowns on 252 carries. He will head back to free agency where he'll likely draw significant interest.
Javonte Williams did not practice on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Williams status is up in the air for the season finale against the Giants. If he sits, Malik Davis and Jaydon Blue would lead the Cowboys backfield.
