Week 3 Outlook
An MRI taken on Jeff Okudah's Achilles revealed a rupture on Monday morning. He'll miss the remainder of the 2021 season.
Okudah was Detroit's No. 3 overall draft pick in 2020. His absence will be felt. A Week 2 date with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers is on deck for the Lions' banged-up secondary.
Per Head coach Dan Campbell, Jeff Okudah suffered an Achillies injury on Sunday against the 49ers. He will undergo tests on Monday to determine the severity.
After getting hurt on Sunday, Okudah will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. If the injury is a season-ender, this will be a tough start to his career as last season he missed over half the season due to injury as well as having off-season core muscle surgery.
Detroit Lions defensive back Jeff Okudah (groin) underwent core-muscle surgery on both sides last season in December.
Okudah is fully recovered from core-muscle surgery and was given a clean bill of health entering training camp. “While he tore a core muscle on one side in ‘20, he had surgery to repair both,” said Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. “The non-injured side for precaution because if you tear one, you often tear the other.” The No. 3 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft rocked up 47 tackles and an interception over nine games in 2020. Okudah should be all systems go for training camp, and his presence on the field only helps the Lions' defense. Detroit allowed a whopping 285 yards per game through the air last season, which ranked 31st among all NFL teams. Even with a fully healthy Jeff Okudah, the Lions DST is currently 31st among all defenses in the latest ECR and is a DST to avoid in all league formats.
Lions CB Jeff Okudah will reportedly undergo groin surgery and miss the final four games of the 2020 season.
Okudah was the No. 3 pick in April's draft and has dealt with both injuries and inconsistency as a rookie. He has recently been missing time with a shoulder problem, but the upcoming surgery is for a groin issue that has bothered him since college. The hope is that he'll get a fresh start at full health come 2021.
Lions CB Jeff Okudah (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Bears.
Okudah has been banged up throughout his rookie campaign. His absence is a plus for Allen Robinson and the rest of Chicago's receiving corps.
