J.J. Taylor
RB - FA
Week 5 Outlook
The New England Patriots waived third-year RB J.J. Taylor from the team on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Taylor had fallen to fourth on the Patriots' RB depth chart behind Pierre Strong Jr., and apparently has run out of chances to hang onto a roster spot. There is a chance Taylor could return to New England's practice squad if he clears waivers. He logged one offensive appearance for the Pats this season back against the Colts in Week 9.
J.J. Taylor was inefficient during his season debut against the Colts in Week 9, rushing 10 times for just nine yards. On a positive note, he did turn his lone target into an eight-yard reception during the victory.
Fantasy Impact
Taylor served as the Patriots' No. 2 back with Damien Harris (illness) sidelined. He will return to the practice squad during the Patriots' bye week and should be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues.
After previously being waived by them, J.J. Taylor signed with the Patriots practice squad.
Fantasy Impact
The former Arizona Wildcat has played in 11 games the last couple of seasons in New England. It is very possible he is on the Week 1 roster if Ty Montgomery (ankle) is sidelined.
The New England Patriots waived RB J.J. Taylor Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
The Patriots signing of Ty Montgomery in the offseason meant that Taylor would have competition for a roster spot. Montgomery impressed in the preseason while Taylor did not. The 24-year-old could be a practice squad candidate if he clears waivers.
Chad Graff of The Athletic projects that running back J.J. Taylor won't make the Patriots' 53-man roster.
Fantasy Impact
It looks like Taylor has a very real chance of being released when final cuts are made on Tuesday. The 24-year-old has spent two seasons with the Patriots, totaling 149 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns through 11 games. He had improved in pass protection this summer, but there are only so many roster spots to go around. Taylor would presumably be a priority practice squad signing for the Patriots if none of the other 31 teams try to add him to their active rosters.
