Kelley, who spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, being brought in is likely a sign that the Giants want to shore up their RB depth, which is understandable following rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s injury. However, Tracy avoided a major injury and is back at practice and seemingly moving well, indicating his return could be sooner than initially expected. RB Devin Singletary is expected to be the team's RB1 in Week 1 and didn't play in N.Y.'s first preseason game. Kelley will also be contesting with RBs Eric Gray and Dante Miller for a final roster spot.
Joshua Kelley rushed for 22 yards on five carries during the Chargers' 63-21 loss to the Raiders in Week 15. He also caught his lone target for a gain of six yards through the air.

Of the Chargers' three active running backs, Kelley was least involved, though it was promising to see him registering more than four yards per carry. Nevertheless, he's off the fantasy radar for Week 16 against Buffalo.

Not only did rumors of backfield competition really never come to fruition, but Kelley was less productive than both Austin Ekeler and Isaiah Spiller. The 26-year-old is off the fantasy radar for Week 15 versus Vegas.
Joshua Kelley could see increased opportunities out of the backfield going forward, according to head coach Brandon Staley.

Staley acknowledged the need to create more competition for carries after Austin Ekeler posted just 1.3 YPC last week. Kelley has looked solid in a backup role this season and could sneak into the low-end RB3 range if given double-digit touches every week.
