Kiko Alonso (knee) designated to return from IR

Saints' LB Kiko Alonso has been cleared to return from the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list after recovering from a torn ACL suffered last postseason.

Fantasy Impact

Alonso accounted for 31 tackles and a pass deflection in 2019, playing a pivotal role as a newcomer to the Saints defense after being traded from the Dolphins. New Orleans will stand to benefit from Alonso's return, as they have allowed 25 total PPG compared to just 21.3 PPG in 2019.

Kiko Alonso headed to the Saints

The Dolphins and the Saints have agreed to a trade that will ship linebacker Kiko Alonso to New Orleans. The exact terms of the trade are not yet known.

Fantasy Impact

Kiko Alonso is coming off his best year, and has only missed two games out of 48 with the Dolphins. The Saints are clearly in win-now mode with Drew Brees entering the twilight of his career.

Kiko Alonso on the roster bubble for Miami

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald is reporting that LB Kiko Alonso is a potential roster cut this season.

Fantasy Impact

Alonso is an expensive and often injured veteran on a rebuilding team. It would not be surprising if he ends up being cut.

Kiko Alonso ejected after late hit on Josh Allen

Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso was ejected in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Bills after a late hit to Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen. He recorded five tackles (four solo) before the early exit.

Fantasy Impact

Alonso’s leg whipped around and hit a sliding Allen in the face on the play. The hit sparked a fight which led to Miami defensive end Robert Quinn and Bills offensive lineman Jordan Mills also being disqualified from the contest. It was not the first late hit on a sliding quarterback from Alonso. He hit Colts quarterback Andrew Luck earlier this year and the Ravens’ Joe Flacco in 2017. It’s becoming a disturbing trend for the veteran linebacker. Alonso finishes the season with a team-high 125 tackles, six passes defensed, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Kiko Alonso doesn’t play despite active status

Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso (knee/hamstring) did not see the field in Sunday’s 17-7 loss to the Jaguars despite being active. Mike Hull got the start in his place.

Fantasy Impact

Alonso was a limited practice participant all week and entered the game with a questionable tag. His fantasy owners, who were given the green light to put him in their championship week lineups when it was announced he’d be active, were left with a frustrating goose egg at the worst possible time. Alonso still leads Miami with 120 tackles with three interceptions and three forced fumbles in 14 games this season. The Dolphins, now eliminated from playoff contention, close out the season with a road game in Buffalo next week.
