LB - SF - OUT
Week 7 Outlook
LB Kwon Alexander (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Rams.
As expected, Alexander will sit out Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Rams due to a high-ankle sprain. Another hit to the 49ers' defense which has been ravished by injuries this season. Look for Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to start in Alexander's place at weak-side linebacker.
The 49ers reportedly have made DE Dee Ford, LB Kwon Alexander and Jaquiski Tartt available for trade due to cap issues.
Alexander is among one of the 49ers' players made available for trade as the team attempts to create cap space. He had surgery in February to repair a biceps injury, but should be all systems go when training camp starts. Alexander signed a four-year, $54 million contract with the 49ers last off-season. The 25-year-old missed eight games in 2019 due to a torn pectoral and played through a biceps injury in the Super Bowl. Despite the recent rash of injuries, Alexander is a strong option in IDP league formats.
49ers coach Kyle Shannahan says Kwon Alexander (injured reserve, pectoral) has an "outside chance" to return in the post-season.
Shannahan added that this is a "long shot", however. San Francisco's defense hasn't been as dominant the past couple of weeks as they had been earlier this season. Alexander's return would give them a boost but it seems unlikely to happen this season.
The 49ers placed linebacker Kwon Alexander on injured reserve with a torn pectoral.
This ends his season. It's a blow to San Francisco's elite defense but they still remain a must-start fantasy option.
Kwon Alexander suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Thursday's victory over the Cardinals. His 2019 season is now over.
Alexander will not play any further into 2019. He was ranked the 33rd best linebacker in Fantasy Pros' rest of season rankings for IDP leagues. Safely remove him in all formats.
