Week 17 Outlook
Kyler Murray (ankle) completed 8-of-11 passes for 87 yards and rushed two times for an additional three yards in a 18-7 loss to the Rams.
Murray injured his ankle in the first quarter and had to come out of the game. With a playoff berth on the line, Murray found the courage to re-enter the game in the fourth quarter, but was unable to help his team overcome a two-score deficit. Murray ends the 2020 campaign just shy of 4,000 yards passing, with 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 819 yards and 11 touchdowns. He'll be a borderline top-5 quarterback option in 2021 with his high floor due to his rushing ability.
Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray left Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams early in the first quarter but received treatment throughout the day and re-entered the game in the fourth quarter with the team's playoff hopes on the line. Chris Streveler led the Arizona offense while Murray was sidelined.
Murray limped off early and was in and out of the locker room for most of the game, but he finally returned to the field early in the fourth quarter with the Cardinals trailing 18-7.
Kyler Murray limped off the field during the Cardinals' opening drive of their Week 17 game against the Rams.
Murray was dealing with a leg injury entering the game and is now headed to the locker room. Chris Streveler will handle quarterback duties for however long Murray is out for.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is expected to take part in practice.
Murray being cleared to practice on a Wednesday is a wonderful sign for his Week 17 availability. The Cardinals need a victory to have any chance of making the postseason, so it appears Kyler and the team are going to take every opportunity to evaluate whether or not he should be cleared for game action. This remains a situation to monitor but Cardinals fans can breathe a little easier.
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury says QB Kyler Murray has a "lower leg injury" and that his status for Week 17 is uncertain.
Arizona will be fighting for their playoff lives in Sunday's Week 17 game against the Rams, which makes us think that Murray will be on the field if at all possible - even at less than 100 percent health. Former CFL quarterback Chris Streveler would fill in for Murray if he's unable to go.
