This Week Outlook
Availability
The Giants signed cornerback Leonard Johnson Friday in an effort to bolster depth at the position. Johnson was part of a workout which included former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Alterraun Verner and former Panther Zack Sanchez.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson joins the Giants who recently lost rookie cornerback Sam Beal for the season to a shoulder injury. The 2012 undrafted free agent of the Buccaneers spent 2017 with the Bills. In 15 games (7 starts), he recorded 51 tackles, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Defensive back Kenneth Durden was waived to make room for Johnson.
Leonard Johnson tackled eight Arizona Cardinals players in Sunday's game. He sacked Carson Palmer once and defended one pass.
Fantasy Impact
Leonard Johnson returned to action for the first time this season, after an Achilles injury kept him on the sideline. This is good news for a Panthers secondary that was gashed with injuries. The Panthers take on the Rams in Week 9.
Leonard Johnson has been activated today from the reserve/NFI list. Johnson was recovering from an Achilles injury and now will be thrown in as a slot corner. Teddy Williams was placed on I.R. in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson will face Larry Fitzgerald this week and Fitzgerald could post huge numbers.
The Panthers have signed cornerback Leonard Johnson to their 90 man roster. He was formerly with the Bucanneers and most recently the Patriots. The Panthers waived Shaq Richardson who had yet to appear in a regular season game.
Fantasy Impact
He has league experience which could be beneficial to the db group of the Panthers which has seen lots of upheaval this off season. The Panthers lost their star cornerback Josh Norman to the Washington Redskins. The Panthers should still be one of the first fantasy defenses drafted in leagues this year.
