Fantasy Impact
New York's woes at wide receiver continue. Whitehead suffered a broken foot and will miss an extended period of time as a result. Although it is uncertain whether or not he will need surgery, his outlook for 2017 appears grim.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the New York Jets have claimed wide receiver Lucky Whitehead off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Impact
Whitehead didn't linger unclaimed for very long as he is now a member of the Jets. Although New York is rebuilding, it will be difficult for Whitehead to emerge as anything more than a gadget player on offense and a return ace on special teams. The Jets employ a handful of young talent at wideout, Whitehead's listed position, with players that include Quincy Eunwa, Robby Anderson, ArDarius Stewart, Chad Hansen and KD Cannon. Whitehead will likely be slated behind those aforementioned receivers upon his arrival at training camp.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Dave Rich, the agent of former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead, told the media that all charges were dropped that pertains to his client and his June 2017 incident in Virginia.
Fantasy Impact
Rich also added that Whitehead's warrant was dropped as the "police had the wrong guy." The Cowboys, who released the wideout Monday after learning of his June incident, didn't submit the paperwork for his transaction on time. Therefore, he remains a member of the team, for now, per Rapoport. There will be greater clarity on Whitehead's status on the Cowboys at the close of business Tuesday.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Lucky Whitehead on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Just hours after the news of Whitehead's June arrest blossomed through the media, Dallas cut their kick return ace. Cowboys' brass is clearly trying to send a message to their locker room in the wake of Whitehead's release. This has been the second consecutive offseason in which multiple Cowboys' players that include Ezekiel Elliott and David Irving were in and out of the headlines for off the field issues.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead was arrested and charged with misdemeanor petty larceny in Virginia back in June 2017.
Fantasy Impact
Rapoport later added that Whitehead failed to appear to court for the matter on July 6. However, it is currently uncertain about whether or not he will face disciplinary action from the NFL. Whitehead's off the field incident is yet another blemish on the Cowboys' locker room's character issues that have plagued the franchise in recent memory.
