Melvin Gordon agrees to two-year, $16M deal with the Broncos

Former Chargers RB Melvin Gordon has agreed to a two-year, $16M deal with the Denver Broncos. $13.5M is guaranteed.

Fantasy Impact

Gordon stays in the AFC West and heads to a division rival. He’ll look to create a thunder and lightning backfield tandem with RB Phillip Lindsay. It looks like RB Royce Freeman could potentially be the odd man out in the Denver backfield. There’s no denying that Gordon has all the talent in the world, but he underwhelmed in 2019 with the Chargers in an injury-riddled year. He only rushed for 612 yards on 3.8 yards per carry. He still managed to find the end zone nine times, salvaging his “down-year.” Gordon will look to bounce back in 2020 with the Broncos, and both he and Lindsay should be considered RB2s for fantasy purposes.

Melvin Gordon and Bills have mutual interest

The Buffalo Bills have contacted Melvin Gordon’s representatives, and there’s mutual interest on both sides, per Buffalo’s Beat Reporter Matt Parrino.

Fantasy Impact

Gordon has been linked to a few teams, but the Bills have the speculated the most interest so far. With the addition of Stefon Diggs, the Bills are looking to add more weapons for Josh Allen. Gordon logged 110 carries for 612 yards and eight touchdowns across 12 games for the Chargers in 2019. If Gordon does land in Buffalo, this would significantly decrease the value of current starter Devin Singletary. Tampa Bay is also being considered as another landing spot for Gordon, but for now the Bills are the only team that reportedly reached out.

Melvin Gordon reportedly expected to test free agency

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports Melvin Gordon is planning to test the free agent market.

Fantasy Impact

This isn’t a huge surprise after the Charger declined to give into Gordon’s contract demands during his holdout last Fall. Gordon didn’t help his case either by averaging 3.8 yards per carry following his return. He is set to turn 27 in April and it’s unclear what teams might be willing to pay him what he’s looking for.

Melvin Gordon strong in loss to Kansas City

Melvin Gordon rushed 14 times for 46 yards and one touchdown and had six receptions for 76 yards in the Chargers' 31-21 loss to the Chiefs Sunday. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Impact

Gordon finished the season strong and fantasy owners will have to wait to see where he plays next season to assess his draft status.
