Omarion Hampton
RB - Los Angeles Chargers - IR
Availability
Omarion Hampton was seen working off to the side at practice on Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Hampton remains on IR as he continues to work his way back from an ankle injury. He remains without a clear timetable to return.
Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton, who is currently on injured reserve (IR) due to an ankle injury, is expected to miss more than the minimum four weeks, though it is not season-ending.
Fantasy Impact
While Hampton is eligible to return to action ahead of the Chargers' Week 10 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he is not expected to be elevated from IR by then. The Chargers have a bye week in Week 12, which offers a natural spot for the rookie to return. However, the Chargers are expected to be in the trade market for a running back and have been active participants, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, so Hampton's workload could be different upon his return.
The Los Angeles Chargers are placing rookie running back Omarion Hampton on injured reserve with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 5
Fantasy Impact
Hampton has taken over the sole RB1 role following Najee Harris' Achilles tendon injury. He had played well, posting his first 100-yard game in Week 4 against the New York Giants, but this injury will sideline him for the next four games; he can return against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. Running backs Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal should dominate the touches in the meantime, though that may mean very little in a pass-first offense.
Omarion Hampton suffered an ankle injury on Sunday against the Commanders. He was seen exiting the locker room in a walking boot. Before leaving, Hampton had run for 44 yards on 12 carries and caught all six targets for 26 yards in the Chargers' 27-10 loss.
Fantasy Impact
Fantasy managers will need to wait for Hampton to receive further testing on his ankle to fully react to this injury. Right now, his status is up in the air, and it's possible he misses at least a week, if not more.
Omarion Hampton rushed for 128 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in the Chargers 21-18 loss to the Giants. He caught all five of his targets for 37 yards.
Fantasy Impact
In his first game as the unquestioned starting running back for the Chargers, Hampton delivered. The rookie running back too 100% of the touches in the running game and ran for a 54-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Hampton will look to build on this performance against the Commanders in Week 5.
