Pat Freiermuth: Arthur Smith's offense 'very exciting' for tight ends

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth called Arthur Smith's offense "very exciting" for tight ends.

Fantasy Impact

While Smith called the plays for the Falcons, more than a third of their passes went to tight ends. However, fantasy managers who rostered Kyle Pitts are likely aware of the usage Jonnu Smith also saw. “With Arthur here, there’s a lot of stuff for the tight ends, situations where you want to make those plays," Freiermuth said. "I’m excited for that. I’m ready to roll.” It may be tough for some to trust this situation after what happened in Atlanta with Smith, but Freiermuth should remain the lead tight end for the Steelers.

Pat Freiermuth catches three passes in Week 17

Pat Freiermuth caught 3-of-4 targets for 44 yards in the Steelers' 30-23 win over the Seahawks.

Fantasy Impact

Freiermuth hasn't had quite as much success as the wide receivers since Mason Rudolph took over under center for Pittsburgh. He remains a low-end TE1 play though given the state of the position.

Pat Freiermuth not targeted in Week 16

Pat Freiermuth was not targeted in a 34-11 win over the Bengals in Week 16.

Fantasy Impact

Freiermuth was on the field for much of the game but he did not draw a target from Mason Rudolph. The game comes as an especially big surprise as the veteran tight end roasted the Bengals for nine catches and 120 yards back when these two teams met in Week 12. Freiermuth will be a TE2 in Week 17 against Seattle.

Pat Freiermuth underwhelming in loss

Pat Freiermuth caught 3-of-4 targets for 16 yards in a 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

Pittsburgh's offense has been extremely bad this season, and that didn't change on Saturday. They made a quarterback change mid-game, and Freiermuth wasn't able to overcome all of the team's issues to have a good fantasy outing. He's a talented player but should remain on the waiver wire in most league formats moving forward.

Pat Freiermuth catches three passes in Week 14

Pat Freiermuth caught three of his seven targets for 18 yards and also caught a two-point conversion in a 21-18 loss to the Patriots in Week 14.

Fantasy Impact

Freiermuth's seven targets tied for the team lead but he couldn't get anything going downfield with Mitch Trubisky at quarterback. His 120-yard game from Week 12 is looking increasingly like a blip on the radar as he has just 47 receiving yards in his two games since. Freiermuth will be a high-end TE2 in Week 15 against the Colts.
