Paul Perkins claimed by the Lions

The Lions claimed Paul Perkins from the Giants on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

Perkins spent the entire 2018 season on the injured reserve, and he wasn’t going to get called upon by the Giants with Saquon Barkley in the fold. The Giants cut Perkins. He last played in 2017 averaging 2.2 YPC. Perkins was added by the Lions for depth purposes and will be one of the main backup running backs behind starter Kerryon Johnson.

Paul Perkins leads team in rushing in preseason finale

Giants running back Paul Perkins rushed 11 times for 54 yards and caught two passes for negative yardage in Thursday's preseason finale against the Patriots.

Fantasy Impact

Perkins is on the roster bubble in New York but closed out the preseason with a strong performance on Thursday. He could be the favorite for the number three running back spot in New York, but it's also possible that Rod Smith or Jonathan Hilliman end up with the job.

Paul Perkins catches three passes Thursday

Giants running back Paul Perkins rushed three times for two yards and caught three passes for 27 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals.

Fantasy Impact

Perkins was listed as the third back on the team's first depth chart and is trying to hold off Rod Smith and Jonathan Hilliman for that spot.

Paul Perkins released by the Giants

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Giants have cut ties with running back Paul Perkins.

Fantasy Impact

Apparently Perkins just underwent shoulder surgery from a non-football injury, making the Giants decision to cut him relatively easy, as he was someone who was on the roster bubble with the acquisition of Saquon Barkley. The former fifth-round pick will likely land somewhere, though he's just a depth chart guy. To this point in his career, he's totaled just 546 yards on 153 carries (3.57 YPC) with no touchdowns. He's droppable, even in most dynasty formats.

Paul Perkins is back to the bench against Cowboys

Paul Perkins did not see a single snap or touch of the football in New York's loss against Dallas on Sunday. After getting a few snaps for the first time in weeks last Sunday against Oakland, Perkins moved back to special team duties.

Fantasy Impact

Even with starter Orleans Darkwa limited, Perkins did not see any snaps on offense. Clearly the UCLA product, once thought of as the Giants' primary back, has fallen out of favor with the team for the time being.
